 From the President:

The Republican Party was born in the early 1850s by anti-slavery activist. In the early 1860s Republicans worked to pass the 13th Amendment, which outlawed slavery, the 14th which guaranteed equal protection under the laws and the 15th, which helped secure voting rights for African-Americans. The Republican Party also played a leading role in securing women the right to vote.

In 1896, Republicans were the first major party to favor Women's Suffrage and the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote, was passed by a Republican majority in Congress over strong Democratic opposition. The 1957 Civil Rights Act, and the 1960 Civil Rights Act were passed with strong Republican support. These are some of the reasons I like to refer to the Republican Party as the Freedom Party.

I am a Republican because I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and each person's dignity, freedom, ability, and responsibility must be honored. I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability, and that free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity. I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn and that the most efficient, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.

Finally, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

If you believe in these ideals and live in the Farmington area we ask you to join us. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at the Farmington Community Library in Downtown Farmington. Networking and Meet & Greet is 6:15 PM and the meeting starts promptly at 6:30 PM.

Fritz Beirmeister, President
